Border & Critical Infrastructure

NDAA-Compliant Surveillance Enclosures for National Security Applications

Fully white-label housings engineered to US NDAA Section 889 compliance requirements, with complete material and manufacturing origin traceability for government procurement packages.

CHALLENGE 01

NDAA Section 889 Compliance

U.S. federal procurement (FAR 52.204-25) prohibits the use of covered telecommunications equipment or services. Government contractors and system integrators must demonstrate that every component — including the camera housing — does not contain prohibited technology from specified Chinese manufacturers.

OUR SOLUTION

We are the housing manufacturer, not a system integrator. Our products contain no electronic components — only inert 316L/304 stainless steel castings with mechanical seals. We provide a signed NDAA compliance letter certifying our housings contain no covered telecommunications equipment. Our hardware is a structural component, not an IT system.

CHALLENGE 02

Remote Desert & Arctic Deployment

Border surveillance covers the world's most extreme climates: from Saudi desert (55°C ambient, sand abrasion) to Arctic Alaska (-50°C, ice loading). Equipment failure means a 12-hour desert drive or helicopter flight for replacement — often in hostile territory.

OUR SOLUTION

Our thermal management system uses a closed-loop PTC heater array that self-regulates power output based on ambient temperature. No mechanical thermostat to fail. The sunshield design creates a forced convection chimney effect, reducing internal temperature by 15°C in direct desert sun without requiring additional fan power.

CHALLENGE 03

Ballistic & Physical Attack Resistance

Border camera installations are targets for vandalism, small arms fire, and explosive tampering. Standard aluminum or plastic housings provide zero physical security against deliberate attack.

OUR SOLUTION

12 mm borosilicate sight glass (with 14 mm sapphire option on MarineCorr Ti) provides IK10+ impact resistance — exceeding EN 62262 requirements. The 316L cast body wall thickness (minimum 8 mm) resists small arms fire from intermediate distances. Tamper-proof security fasteners with proprietary drive patterns prevent unauthorized access.

WHITE-LABEL & NDA-READY

All border security housings are delivered with zero external branding, NDAA compliance letter, material origin certificates (mill test reports per heat number), and full dimensional inspection data. We are prepared to sign mutual NDA and government end-user certificates before quotation.

Hazardous Area Technical FAQ

What is Zone 1 vs Zone 2 in hazardous area classification?

Zone 1 is an area where an explosive gas atmosphere is likely to occur during normal operation (>10 hours/year, <1,000 hours/year). Zone 2 is where it is unlikely during normal operation and only persists for short periods (<10 hours/year). Our Ex d IIC T6 Gb housings are certified for both Zone 1 and Zone 2, while our Ex e junction boxes are suitable for Zone 2 increased safety applications.

How do your enclosures prevent gas explosions?

Our enclosures use the Ex d flameproof protection method. The housing is engineered with precision-machined flame paths (gaps < 0.03mm tolerance) between the body and lid. If flammable gas enters and ignites inside, the explosion is contained. Escaping gases are forced through the flame path, which cools them below the auto-ignition temperature before they reach the external atmosphere — the same principle used in industrial flame arrestors.

What maintenance does explosion-proof equipment require?

Routine maintenance includes: (1) visual inspection of flame path surfaces for corrosion or damage — any pitting invalidates the Ex certification; (2) O-ring inspection and replacement every 2 years; (3) cable gland compression check during annual safety audits; (4) earth bonding continuity test per IEC 60079-14. Our quick-release wiper blade system enables single-person replacement in 90 seconds without opening the sealed enclosure.

Can your housings operate in extreme temperatures?

Standard operating range is -40°C to +60°C (ambient). The integrated PTC heater self-regulates power based on temperature, preventing condensation and lens fogging at low temperatures without a mechanical thermostat that could fail. The forced convection sunshield design reduces internal temperature by up to 15°C in desert sun. Extended temperature ranges available on request.
